Install each module that you want. 2.4 Creating A Menu Link To MyBlog's Frontpage Now that you have MyBlog installed. you'd want to create a menu item to link to MyBlog's frontpage. So that visitors can view your brand new blog! To do this simply follow the steps below: - Log in to your Joomla! site's back end.
- Go to "Menu --> Menu Manager" from the drop down menu.
- Select the menu you want to put the link to MyBlog's frontpage to
and click on the icon next to it under "Menu Items". This will bring up a display showing the menu items for that particular menu. - Click on "New" icon on the upper right hand corner. This will bring you

In the "Components" section select "Component" and click the "Next" icon on the top right hand corner. - For Joomla! 1.5 Under the "Internal Links" collapsible list, click on "MyBlog". - In the next page simply enter the name you want for the menu item in
the "Name" field, let's say "My Blog" and click on the "Save" icon on the top right hand corner. Well! You are now set! You should find the menu item on your menu and it will link to MyBlog's frontpage. 2.5 "Usermenu" Item During installation MyBlog will automatically create a menu item in your default "Usermenu". The menu item, "MyBlog Dashboard", will link to a particular user's MyBlog dashboard. This is the control interface by which a user can manage his or her blog account. More information about it can be found in the "Interface" section of this manual under the title "Front End Interface". 3.0 Interface 3.1 The Front End Interface MyBlog's Frontpage This is the main page that will showcase your blog. It shall list the entries as well as provide a title and description for your blog. MyBlog's Toolbar Home The default main display. Tags Takes you to a list of all your available tags. Search Brings up MyBlog's search utility that allows you to search the entries by keywords, blogger or category. Feed Is the link to the RSS for the particular page you are viewing. MyBlog's Dashboard My Entries This tab lists all your blog entries. There is also a button "Write New Entry" which if clicked will call up teh editor for you to add an entry. Provided that you have JomComment installed. MyBlog's Editor Title Field This is where you enter the title for your blog post. Main Body The main text entry area. Sidebar Publish Information Here you can set your post either to be published or not as well as set the date for the post. Tags Here you can tag your blog post with tags, to organize them into groups. Images and documents The interface to upload images to the site and place them on your posts. Search older posts You can search older posts to look for posts with similar entries as well as look for entries to quote. Embed videos A tool to embed videos into your posts. Maintenance Contains the maintenance functions for MyBlog such as a button to clear its cache as well as fix broken links. Manage Blog Entries Write New Write new blog entry. Click to open the editor and write an entry. Will require you to login. View All Clicking on this will list all the entries in the blog. View Unpublished Entries Use this to view the unpublished entries, you can then publish or delete the entries. About/Support About MyBlog A description of MyBlog. Support Links to support for your components. 4.0 Basic Usage 4.1 Creating a new entry There are two ways you can create an entry in MyBlog. From the front end: - Log in to the front end of your site.
- Look for the "User Menu" that shall appear once you are logged in.
- Find and click on the menu item "My Blog Dashboard".
- You should be taken to your MyBlog dashboard. Look for a button labeled "Write New Entry". Click on the button.
- The MyBlog editor should now pop up and you can go ahead and write your new entry.
From the back end: - Log in to your back end.
- Go to MyBlog's admin panel by selecting "Components --> My Blog" from the dropdown menu.
- In the admin panel, look under "Manage Blog Entries" and click the "Write new entry" link.
- You shall be taken to the editor interface. You will be asked to log in first. You can then star writing your new entry.
4.2 Editing or deleting an existing entry To edit an existing entry, simply go to your Myblog dashboard and you shall see by default the list of entries written by you. Next to each article is an "edit" and a "delete" button. Clicking on the "edit" button will call up the MyBlog editor with the corresponding article in it for you to edit. The "delete" button will of course delete the entry. 4.3 Adding Images How To Add Images You can add images to your blog entry from the editor. Simply click to open the "Images and document" tab and then upload the picture. After uploading, simply click on the thumbnail of the picture you wanted and the picture will be automatically added to the post. To resize the image simple drag its corners at the squares. To configure how and where the image appears, simply select the image and click the image settings icon on the toolbar. The one with the image of a tree. Managing Image Storage MyBlog Image Browser and Upload Tool Myblog has an image browser built into the editor as well as an upload tool. Both can be found in the "Images and document" tab. Setting Root Directory and Browsing Permissions You can set the root directory for MyBlog to use for its images, in the back end admin panel. Under general settings, look for the "permissions" tab and look in the "image browser permissions" section. There you will find a field to set the directory in your site to use to store the image. You can also enable or disable the image browser here as well as restrict users to their own specific directory instead of the entire default image directory. 4.4 Adding Video How To Add Videos To add videos to your blog post, simply click on the "Embed Videos" tab and there you can set its width, height and then simply enter the URL of the video. 4.5 MyBlog Tags MyBlog organizes it post by the use of Tags. Keywords that you can assign as reference for each post. Afterwards, you can use the tags to organize your posts. Tagging Your Post To tag your post, simply look at the "Tags" tab in your editor. Click on it and you will get to the Tags interface where you will see a list of available tags with a tickbox next to each. Simple tick the box next to the tag you want to tag your article with and you are done. There is also an input field and an "Add" button to add new tags. Type the tag in the field and press "Add" to add it in. 4.6 RSS in MyBlog MyBlog supports RSS feeds for its content. Simply click on the "Feed" link in MyBlog's toolbar to get the RSS link for the page you are viewing. 4.7 Social Bookmarking MyBlog supports social bookmarking. 4.8 Technorati And Trackbacks Technorati Pings MyBlog can be set to automatically ping Technorati every time you posts a new article. Your blog will picked up by Technorati. Changing The Default Template To change MyBlog's current template simply log in to your back end administration and access MyBlog's admin panel. In "General Settings" under the "Layout" tab, look for a dropdown list labeled "Default MyBlog Template". Simply drop down to the one you one and it shall be selected. Editing MyBlog's Templates You can actually edit MyBlog's templates yourself to further customize it to your needs. Simply look in "components/com_myblog/templates". You shall find the template files in their appropriately named directories. Simply copy a directory, rename it to what you want and edit it to your heart's content and save it in the directory. You shall find that MyBlog will automatically detect it and you shall find it listed in the dropdown list under the name you saved the directory under. Submit Your Templates If you have edited a MyBlog template and would like to share them with the rest of the community, please send them in to us and we might add your template to the next release! Editing The Language File To edit the language file simply go to "components/com_myblog/language" and you shall find the appropriately named language files. Open any one of the language files to edit them in case of corrections. In order to translate into a language we still do not have, simply copy the "english.php" file and rename it to "yourlanguage.php" and edit away. MyBlog shall automatically detect the file and add it to the available languages. Hard-coded Texts Please take note that some interface texts as well as some generated emails and messages are hardcoded into the code and would require you to edit the code files to change them. For details and locations of the changes please refer to our forums or email our support team. We do apologize for this and please do know that we are working to strip these out and make life easier for you guys soon! Submit You Translations & Corrections Since only a native speaker or one fluent in it would know the correct translation for a language, we welcome any translation and corrections of our translations. Category Displays the categories under which the blog posts are organized under. Clicking on a category will list all blog entries which is categorized under it. Latest Displays the latest blog entries. Clicking on a particular entry will link to that entry's page. Latest With Intro Displays the latest blog entries with a short introtext for each entry. Clicking on an entry will link to that particular entry's page. Tags Displays a list or a "cloud" of tags which Blogger This module displays all the bloggers on the blog. 5.5 Blogger Page Clicking on a blogger name on the Blogger Module or on the linked text on blog posts will link to the blogger page. This is the page for individual bloggers. In essence it is a micro blog for that blogger. The page will show the blogger's avatar, a description of his or her blog as well as list all articles written by that particular blogger. 6.0 3rd Party Integration 6.1 MyBlog and JomComment MyBlog is designed to work hand in hand with JomComment, our comment system component. Its integration is actually built in. In order to enable JomComment integration with MyBlog, simply follow the steps below after installing JomComment: - Log in to your Joomla! site's back end

7.0 Common Issues Here you will find some common issues often faced during MyBlog installation and their know solutions. 7.1 Directory Permissions In order to install MyBlog, files needed to be copied to certain directories and locations. For this to happen you need to make sure the directory permissions for the necessary directories are set to "Writeable" Checking Directory Permissions In order find out the directory permissions, For Joomla! 1.0 Look in "System --> System Info" In the "Permissions" tab. Simply navigate JoomXplorer's interface and change the attributes of the needed directories. You can download it from http:// FTP Simply access the FTP for your hosting account and change the attributes of the directories. Either using an FTP manager or your internet browser. Control Panel In some hosting accounts you can manipulate the files and directories in your site via the control panel. Simply access your control panel and change the necessary permissions to the necessary directories. NOTE: This is not an issue with Joomla! 1.5 if you set the FTP access for Joomla! so that it can directly access the directories via FTP. 8.0 Tips & Tricks 8.1 Using MyBlog's Frontpage As Your Home Page If you run a blog site sometimes you would want your MyBlog frontpage to literally BE your site's frontpage or home page. If you are wondering how to do this? Here's how: - Log in to your Joomla! site's back end.
- Go to "Menu --> mainmenu", the default main menu for your site.
You will get a list of menu items for "mainmenu" Make sure you have already created the menu item that links to MyBlog's frontpage, let say you name it "MyBlog". - For Joomla! 1.0
Use the arrows under "Reorder" to move the MyBlog menu item to the first position. or... simply type the position numbers in the "Order" field and then press the save icon (the small disk icon) next to the heading. Make sure that the MyBlog menu item is numbered "1" and number the rest accordingly For Joomla! 1.5 Notice the star icon under the heading "Default" on the list of menu items. It should be next to the "Home" menu item. Tick the box on the left of the MyBlog menu item to select it and then press the default icon (the star icon) on the tool bar on the top right side. Notice now that on the menu item list under the "Default" heading, the star icon is now next to the MyBlog menu item. Voila! Your MyBlog frontpage is now your site's frontpage or home page. 8.2 Useful URL Links Main URL: index.php?option=com_myblog Extra params : (cannot be used in combination with each other) task=blogs - list of blogs task=userblog - view current logged in user's blog. More params: (not for task=blogs or userblog. can be used in combination with each other) blogger=bloggername - show blog for bloggername category=tagname - show blogs tagged with tagname keyword=keywordname - show blogs containing keywordname task=rss - rss feed show=permalink - show the blog entry associated with the permanent link 'permalink' Using the above params, you can construct URLs used in My Blog, example: To show all blog entries for the user 'admin', url = index.php?option=com_myblog&blogger=admin To show all blog entries for the user 'admin' that are tagged 'myblog', url = index.php?option=com_myblog&blogger=admin&category=myblog 8.3 A Multi-Blogger Blog MyBlog is a multi-blogger blog, which means that you can have more then one blogger on your blog. 9.0 Uninstalling MyBLog While we don't foresee this happening, because we work hard to ensure that MyBlog is the best blogging experience we can make it to be. Though, Everyone is entitled to their own preference as well as likes an dislikes. Just in case you need to uninstall MyBlog, we have included this section for your reference. 9.1 Uninstalling MyBlog Component To uninstall the MyBlog component from your site follow these steps: - Log in to your Joomla! site's back end

Go to "Installers --> Components" Click on the radio button next to "My Blog" in the component list to select it. 9.2 Uninstalling Mambots/Plugins The MyBlog uninstall script will automatically remove the "Azrul Video Mambot". However the "Azrul System Mambot" is not removed because this mambot is actually shared and used by all our components. So, in case you do have our other components installed, we leave the "Azrul System Mambot" untouched. Thus you need to uninstall the "Azrul System Mambot" manually. Or in case your mambots are corrupted and you need to uninstall before reinstalling a clean version. Or maybe you need to upgrade the mambots. To uninstall the mambots from your site follow these steps: - Log in to your Joomla! site's back end

Go to "Installers --> Mambots" Click on the radio button next to "Azrul System Mambot" in the component list to select it. For Joomla! 1.5 Go to "Extensions --> Install/Uninstall" Click on the "Plugins" Tabs Click on the tick box next to "Azrul System Mambot" in the component list to select it. - Click on the "Uninstall" icon on the toolbar on the top right hand corner.
- Wait for the successful uninstall message and you are done. Repeat the
process for each mambot/plugin you need removed. The mambot/plugins you need to uninstall are: Azrul System Mambot Azrul Video Bot 9.3 Uninstalling MyBlog Modules The MyBlog modules are not automatically removed by MyBlog's uninstaller script. You will need to uninstall them manually. To uninstall the MyBlog modules from your site follow these steps: - Log in to your Joomla! site's back end

Go to "Installers --> Modules" Click on the radio button next to a module that begins with "mod_myblog" in the component list to select it. For Joomla! 1.5 Go to "Extensions --> Install/Uninstall" Click on the "Modules" Tabs Click on the tick box next to a module that begins with "mod_myblog" in the component list to select it. - Click on the "Uninstall" icon on the toolbar on the top right hand corner.
- Wait for the successful uninstall message and you are done. Repeat the
process for all installed modules. MyBlog modules are as follows: mod_myblog_archive mod_myblog_blogger mod_myblog_category mod_myblog_comments mod_myblog_tag mod_myblog_latest mod_myblog_latest_intro 9.3 Removing MyBlog Data As a precaution, MyBlog does not delete its data during uninstall. This is to allow for uninstalls for upgrades or to repair corrupted installs. To remove MyBlog's data from your site you will need access to the phpMyAdmin panel for your site. - Access the particular database used by your Joomla! site and select it
from the left hand panel. - Once selected find and delete all tables that begins with "jos_myblog".
The tables are: jos_myblog_bots jos_myblog_categories jos_myblog_config jos_myblog_content_categories jos_myblog_images jos_myblog_mambots jos_myblog_permalinks jos_myblog_tb_sent jos_myblog_uploads jos_myblog_user - Delete the tables listed above and all your MyBlog data will be gone.
