A Fond Farewell.

I stand now upon the crossroads between the paths of dreams and newly acquired ambition. It was a tough struggle, but I have made my choice and put it into words, a delivered letter and now into this poignant blog post.

I shall be leaving Azrul.com after today, bidding a fond farewell to the kind folks at AzrulStudio, leaving the "Talk To Us" and support tickets, the many interesting interludes and memorable moments. No more shall I be dotting "i's " and crossin [...]

While it has been a blast answering all the inquiries and issues from your support tickets. I have decided to take some time off this week to pursue my hidden passion, performing my poetry to a public audience! I have been writing poetry ever since I was in highschool, but mostly I am a closet poet-wannabee who hides his works in his back pocket, so to speak.

I have fallen in with some rowdy poetic types of late, folks from the "Poetry Underground" From the [...]

Recently, we have noticed that there are a couple of users who are actually unable to connect to our support desk located at http://support.azrul.com . While we are trying to rectify the issues with our upstream Internet Service Provider, it is actually quite difficult for us to locate the bottlenecks since most of us are able to access the site.

Nevertheless, if you do fall into the above, you would still be able to access our support forums at http://forum.azrul.com and any emai [...]

Native Jom Comment installer for Joomla 1.5

Let me quickly brief you on our build script. All our component are compiled together into a single zip file by an automated build script. By using this script, we no not have to manually copy and paste everything into an empty folder and zip it up manually. Our script will automatically retrieve

the latest code from our svn, copy everything into a temporary file, rebuild the professional and standard edition and archive every single build. It is pretty neat (if I may say so myself) [...]

Yesterday, I get the shock of my life when I notice that PayPal option were removed from the list of payment method in Plimus (our payment gateway). Payment via PayPal, account for more than 35% of all our sales. So, what is going on here?. Some research reveal that they are worried about fraud. However, from our experience, there is hardly any fraudulent transaction from PayPal.
My Blog beta v1.0 build 75 released!

Some of you may have noticed or even received an email by Azrul himself about the beta version of My Blog which was recently released in the forums.

We did receive many complaints previously about the integrations of My Blog and the Joomla! site where quite a number of users simply want us to drop the "Lightbox / Thickbox" feature. Therefore, we have made the decision to strip out the "Lightbox / Thickbox" feature and instead insert our own little editor window. A [...]

Jom Comment 1.9 is currently under heavy development and a few beta version has been released. There are quite a bit of changes in the release, the most important being the use of our own internal libraries instead of using Joomla API call.

We have decided to do this for a few reasons, but mainly to help us port all our apps across J1.0 , J1.5 and possibly Mambo as well.

1.9 is a pretty significant release. You can look forward to some major new features, such as reworked backend [...]

Moving forward: PHP and MySQL requirements

All this while, I've been working hard to make sure that all our apps runs on as many flavours of php/MySQL as possible. This means suporting php 4.0 or even the bug-ridden php 4.1.7. On the database side, we even test it with MySQL 3.0!

However, moving forward, we have decided to put aminimum requirement for all our component. Don't panic! We will still support php 4, but a minimum version of 4.3 will be required. This helps us greatly as it allows us to focus on coding and not [...]

It was fun as we got to meet some Joomla core team as well as some Thailand Joomla community member. It is a little challenging at first as nobody seems to be speaking English.

Culturally, Thai people aresooodang polite.... honestly! They greet each other all the time, 'sawadekap' x 1000!. Anyway, I didn't take too many photos as Noon (the host) seems to enjoy taking tons of photos.
