Automatic Drafting? What do you think?

Mark

Recently, I was trying to write a blog entry here via My Blog and all of a sudden Firefox decided to CRASH itself @.@ and I can't restore the previous session for some reason. It's really a PITA when I have to re-write the blog entries :(

I think My Blog should have an auto drafting feature where it allows a blog entry to be automatically saved while you are typing or maybe when there is an idle activity of 5 seconds.

What do you think?  Maybe it's just me being unlucky :(

@Mark,

hey yeah there was an update for the firefox few days back isn't it? I am sure it have to be the browser rather than Joomla!'s fault.

I've been there before so many many times, for forum posts, blog posts even comments; it's really pain since I am used to Gmail's automatic saved draft. Now, I have a habit to Ctrl A and Ctrl C once in awhile just to be safe.

Mark, the features you mentioned should be on the top of the feature request list. What I will do as dev is to diminish as much possible ISSUES, just like you stumbled upon AND then I continue into looking IMPROVEMENT features.

Myblog is good as it is now, but couple more patches on the holes will make it much much better.

@Ruigato,

Myblog is an extension to Joomla! which I believe is already done a superb job given they aren't standalone CMS. It's health to compare it with WP, but it's a bit of unfair. WP is blogging management system and only good at doing specific job while Joomla! is more on web development with more flexible approach; depending on the web dev. and the users creativity and self-needs.

@ Pembaris

Maybe i was miss understood. I Was not telling that i dont want this option (i do), i would prefer some fine tunning in present features.
I Was not comparing J! with wordpress, i was just telliing that the autosave and others are things that Joomla lacks and should be added to joomla core. I was trying to tell that every new feature iis welcome, but the main thing that i would like to have is easy of use for my users.

would be creating a date and timestamp system that works correctly. You know, for blogging. The timestamp and wacky dating and sorting issues are absolutely killing me right now.

This would indeed be a great feature. Gmail has this kind of feature and it often comes very handy.
