Jom Comment 1.4 Released PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 31 May 2006

Jom Comment 1.4 is now available for download. Although there are a lot of planned features and I originally plan to release this much later, I have decided to release it right away to address some immediate issues particularly in the backend. I have also thrown in a "Latest Comment" module!

This upgrade is free for all existing users. Head to our upgrade area , put your email address there and our automated system will email you the latest update.

Here is a short list of changes

  • Editing comment in backend is now done through ajax technique. Just click on the ‘edit’ button and you can immediately edit the comment without page reloading.

  • Latest Comment module is included.

  • You can also edit the language file directly from the backend. Editing language file is easy and saving is super fast through ajax method.

  • All language files are now in UTF-8 format. It doesn’t matter what encoding your site uses, Jom Comment will apply your language file properly.

  • Comment submission form will be hidden if you choose not to allow guest to comment. Guest will be asked to register instead. This message is of course, completely editable through the language file. If you uses non-English language, please find the time to edit the language file as I have no money to pay translator to do this. Sorry.

  • The template system has been changed. If you have customized your template before, you will need to update the template. If you have a problem please email me your template file and I will fix it for you.

  • You can now specify blocked words. If a blocked word is detected in the posting, the posting will automatically be un-publish and admin will be notified

  • Adding new comment will correctly add new comment at the top if “show newer first” is selected.

  • Originating IP address of each post will be visible from the backend.

  • 2 new templates! Boxy and Khaki. You now get 4 templates to play with. Check out the screenshots in ‘product tour’ page.

  • Fix some issues with PHP 5

I have the same question, what are the upgrade instructions? I can't find them in the "read me" file that comes with the new version.

If you have not edit the templates and language file, simply uninstall old version and re-install the new version.

NO DATA WILL BE LOST! ALL DATA WILL STAY INTACT.

If you edit the template file, please send it to me and I'll update them for you.

It seems your system is not automated very well - I plugged in my email to upgrade yesterday and still don't have the upgrade.

Best.

I have installed Jom comment and at my frontpage it looks pretty well.

When I take a look at my other pages I see the fill out form right away, so without clicking at it.

What can I do to make it work properly?

(So not to see the fill out form until I click...)

Kind regards,

Nice component! - Have a question

I purchased and installed the 1.4 release. I've configured so that only registered users can comment. A link appears on each commenter's username, but clicking does not redirect to the user's profile.

I have Community Builder 1.0 Stable installed. Could that have something to do with the issue of username links not working?

Thanks for a nice comment module!

1. I agree with PAM. clicking on links of registered users should bring to their profile page (CB, SMF, etc).

2. Chad V.: Try contacting Azrul on Skype (right side of page there is a direct link)

Chad, you need to make sure /mambots/system folder is writeable. Not many component use this folder and it is typically unwriteable. You can skype me anytime ok (whenever I am online obviously).
