Go grab the latest upgrade of Jom Comment 1.6.5! In this upgrade, besides all the bug fix, we have laid down the groundwork for an exciting spam filtering technology that should keep spam at bay. This filter, also known as Bayesian filter, works tremendously once it has collected lots of samples to identify comments with a high probability of spam.

Here are more reasons why you should upgrade:

1. Azrul has added a new front-end editing feature. With this latest version, admins are able to edit comments from the front-end itself.

2. We’ve got another comment system import feature on board. If you have your precious comments stored in !JoomlaComment, you won’t lose any of them when you use Jom Comment. We can now import data from !JoomlaComment.

3. Introduction of Bayesian filter for Jom Comment. The Bayesian filter is not active yet because it needs training. So, please take some time to train the filter. Once the Bayesian filter is up and running (in 1.7 release), you will not need to have the Captcha image challenge for your Jom Comment as the Bayesian filter will automatically recognize new comments as being spam or not spam.

Here’s how to train the filter:

In the back-end, choose to view all comment under “View Comment”. Click on the Edit icon for each comment.

For each comment, please identify it as spam or non spam by clicking the “Train Filter – Spam” or “Train Filter – Non Spam” button.
